Annual All-Team Snelling Pre Ride with Special Guest Freddie Rodriguez!

Fast Freddie

It’s that time of year for what has come to be known as the Annual Snelling/Merco pre-ride.  This year’s event will be held on January 25, 2014.  As an added bonus, this year we are fortunate to have 4 time US National Road Race Champion and Grand Tours rider Freddie Rodriguez from the Jelly Belly racing team joining us.  Sadly, Merco is no longer with us, so the route will follow the roads for Snelling and Turlock Lake Road races.  See the following link:

All are welcome, however this will be a show & go, drop ride and pace will be dictated by the group.  It is possible there will be follow vehicles – but no guarantees so be prepared.  Ride will be held rain or shine.  The ride will leave at 9:00am from Henderson Park @ 3325 Merced Falls Rd, Snelling, CA.

***NOTE: This is not a FSB Cycling Team or CdV event…with the thumbs up from the previous organizer, we are just helping to get the word out about this fantastic annual ride, promote cycling and reach as many area racers as possible. Thanks!***

Team Photo Day

Mark your calendars, the team photo is scheduled for Saturday, February 8th at 8am. Pictures will be taken in front of our title sponsor, Fun Sport Bikes, located at 1700 McHenry Ave in Modesto (McHenry Village Shopping Center). An all team ride will follow with details to be announced on the Yahoo group email list. Please wear your new kits for the photos. Thanks!

Official Team Photo Day!

Mark your calendars, the official Fun Sport Bike Cycling Team photo will be taken on Sunday, February 24th at 9am at the location of our title sponsor, Fun Sport Bikes in Modesto. We’ve taken the race calendar into consideration and tried to pick a day and give enough notice so that we have a large turnout. We are doing it early in the day because the parking fills up in front of the shop later in the afternoon. Please arrive on time.

A photo of the newly formed FSB Race Squad and head shots for the website will be taken on this day as well. In addition, a photo of the FSB Women’s Development Squad will be taken, which will eliminate the need for a separate photo shoot like we did last year.  Wear the NEW kit! If you are new, you’ll need to borrow one as we’ve done in past years. We don’t want a mix of old and new kits.

The Sunday shop ride that is usually scheduled for 2:30 will be moved, and will depart from the shop after the photo shoot is complete. If the route changes for this day, Joey will post a revised route prior to the ride.

1st Annual Christmas Light Night Ride

presented by Romeo Medical Clinic

With a full schedule of racing just around the corner, and the rush of the holidays upon us, we thought it would be fun to slow things down a bit and put together a fun ride that celebrates the season and focuses on that pure joy we get when we ride our bikes.  In addition to encouraging the development of advanced skills and fitness needed for competition and racing among club members, it is also part of the club’s mission statement to encourage cycling as a sport for fitness, health and enjoyment within the community.

DATE:  Thursday, December 13, 2012

TIME: 6:30pm

WHERE:  Meet at the Tower Health and Wellness Center, located at 1801 Colorado Ave. Turlock, CA.  Park in the back lot (behind the building) and we’ll leave from there.

WHAT:  This will be a fun, casual, social ride for CdV members and their families (spouses, kids, etc).  We’d love to see our sponsors and their families come out too.  Road bikes, mountain bikes, cross bikes…all are welcome! I think we may even have a bike trailer or two being towed by club members. We will meander through the streets of Turlock and enjoy the festive lights around town.  This is not a ride about miles and speed…it is about family, friends, celebrating the season, and enjoying the ride.  Remember, this is a night ride (which are a lot of fun), so don’t forget your lights!  Also, since there will be kids on the ride, some of us will be adding a few extra festive touches to our bikes and attire to make it more memorable.  This ride is all about healthy fun! Don’t forget to wear your kits too.

SOMETHING EXTRA: After the ride, Romeo Medical Clinic, one of our generous sponsors, will be providing hot cocoa and treats in the RMC Work Wellness office located in Suite 130.

ROUTE:  A few of the CdV women rode last night and scouted possible routes.  Karin will be working out the final one, which will be available before next week.

October 20th Ride for Members & Those Who’d Like to Join the Club!

The club’s Membership Director will be leading the “Vrieling Loop” ride this coming Saturday, October 20th.  He’s been riding this route for the last 10 years and somewhere along the way it ended up being named after him.  This is a flat 48 mile loop leaving O’Brien’s Market at the corner of Pelandale/Dale leaving at 8am.  An extension is available for those wanting more miles.  This will be a no drop, conversational, winter pace ride and hopefully another chance to allow potential new members to ride with club.  Anyone who would like to turn in a membership application can also give it to me at the start/finish.  We’ll bring a few copies along just in case.  If you know of anyone who is considering joining the club please feel free to invite/bring them to the ride.  Should be a great morning to ride!
